The Sabbath Truth App is a mobile application designed to be a “source of information, not only for those who already know about and keep God’s Holy Sabbath; but also a tremendous blessing to those who are searching for answers on the Sabbath issue.” It contains a chat feature for those who have questions on the topic, a page with recent news articles pertaining to the Sabbath, an FAQ page, a section on Sabbath as a blessing to families, and conversations about the historical change from Saturday to Sunday.
The application is the brainchild of Pastor Aubrey Duncan, a lay pastor at Forsyth New Life Mission of Seventh-day Adventists. Forsyth New Life Mission is an outreach ministry of Wimbish Road Seventh-day Adventist church in Macon, Georgia, located within the Georgia-Cumberland Conference.
In an interview with Advent Messenger, Duncan shared his religious journey, coming from a non-religious context and overcoming a twelve-year addiction to drugs. “The Lord has given me a deep passion for lifting up Jesus and sharing His end-time message,” says Duncan. “As Seventh-day Adventists, we know that a great crisis of apocalyptic proportions will take place just before the glorious return of Jesus Christ to redeem those who have given their lives to Him. That crisis, as we can now discern its contours, will be the Sabbath/Sunday issue.”
Duncan’s goal was to create an easily accessible, highly interactive, mobile evangelistic tool to address this particular issue. “In this rapidly growing conflict, all will be required to choose one day or the other,” says Duncan. “Ultimately, that decision will go beyond which day you choose as the Sabbath. Rather the day you choose demonstrates to the onlooking universe who has control and authority over your life: the God of Creation or men’s traditions.”
