Fred Kinsey, Leader in Adventist Communication, Dies at 71
“After a long battle with Parkinson’s disease, Fred Kinsey passed away on Monday, July 17, in Walnut Creek, California, United States,” according to an obituary in the Adventist Review. Kinsey served as a pastor, communications director, public relations director, communications department chair, and assistant to the president for communication for the North American Division. He also served as a speaker and director for the Voice of Prophecy. Read more about his life at the Adventist Review site.
ADRA Helps Indian Communities Affected by Cyclone and Manipur Violence
“Cyclone Biparjoy exceeded winds of over 125 kilometers per hour and torrential rains, killing two people, injuring hundreds, and displacing at least 100,000 families, children, and individual citizens….ADRA is also assisting families affected by the Manipur Violence in India, which is the result of clashes between the Meitei people of the Imphal Valley and a variety of tribal groups.” Read full story on ADRA’s website.
Adventist Young Professionals to Meet in Texas, July 28-30
The upcoming Thrive Convention for Adventist Young Professionals (AYP) is a 3-day leadership convention and networking event happening next weekend, July 28-30, in Dallas, Texas. La Sierra University Adds Ten New Academic Degrees
“Moving forward into the 2023-2024 school year, La Sierra University will add at least ten new academic degree programs to its offerings, three of them in the sustainability arena,” according to a new article on La Sierra’s site. In addition to focusing on environmental sustainability, new programs will be added in the areas of STEM education, political science, theology, and behavior analysis. Former Italian Union President Vincenzo Mazza Dies at 76
“Seventh-day Adventist pastor Vincenzo Mazza passed away on Wednesday, July 5, following serious complications of Parkinson’s disease at the age of 76. He leaves behind his wife Adriana, two married sons, Fabian (49) and Andreas (47), and four grandchildren…He went on to become a lifelong pastor of churches in Germany and Italy. He served as a leader of the Adventist Church in Italy from 1995 until his retirement in 2000.” Read more about Mazza’s life at the Adventist Review site.
