EDITORIAL: Our Dearly Deported
“It really breaks our hearts if we know the individuals to be hardworking, law-abiding citizens. Some have contributed immensely to the well-being of our country. If ICE gets a hold of destructive, gang-related people, please send them to where they belong. But, give an opportunity to those that have Made America Great, for many years!!!!!!”
Engaging Contemporary Thinkers: The Omnipresent Divine Spirit
“Jim, how wonderful that Adventist Today provides another open place for people like you to stretch our minds enough to permit our hearts room to thrive. The Jesus God has put no limits on the freedom truth requires.“
–Jack Hoehn
“I wouldn’t be at all concerned with recommending a ‘type of God belief’ to a humanist friend. I would always welcome the opportunity to talk about love, and about the joy that being a loving human can bring into one’s life and into the lives of others. It doesn’t really matter what a person believes. What matters is how what one believes affects the way he or she treats other people.”
-George R. Brown
Is Immigration a Problem or an Opportunity?
“Leviticus 19:33-34, Malachi 3:5, and many other verses say we should be welcoming to foreigners.
–Carl Schmid
“After World War II America opened its doors to more than 650,000 displaced persons from all over the countries of Europe. This happened because Democrats and Republicans joined together to pass three different bills increasing the number of immigrants allowed to come into America. These were signed by a Democrat and Republican president. My family was able to come and was sponsored and welcomed by Adventist churches and members who helped us get settled into our new homeland.”
–Al Konrad
Southern Professors Explore the Connection Between Faith and Science
“To ‘challenge AND confirm their beliefs’?
“The group was founded in 2010 after the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists released a statement calling on all Adventist institutions to uphold the one-week creation story found in Scripture.
SATIRE: Trump Applauds GC for Pioneering Anti-DEI Leadership Long Before It Was Ordered
“Did I also hear that President Trump spoke to President Wilson about how to secure a third (or maybe fourth) term in office?“
–Steve Ferguson
Complicit Christianity or Courageous Christianity? A Response to House Resolution 59
“What is happening in the US is outrageous; what is happening in the House is totally oblivious to American history, totally oblivious to the US constitution, totally ignorant of Christian theology or the Biblical message. “
–Andreas Bochmann
“….by their fruits….. People often criticize those who at least SAY the right things — but what if there is the individual that can’t even say the right things? I would say that it is a slam dunk that merciful actions, those of Christ’s nature, will not follow when one lacks these things. And no, it’s not ‘judgmental.’… We are told to notice — hence, ‘by their fruits.’ ‘The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.’ Is that political? IMO, she held back because she didn’t point out anything personal in their lives but re-iterated merciful treatment and kindness towards others (regardless of their ‘issues’). I am sickened by the outrage among Christians who are chastising her but ignoring the response of our president. People are choosing a path and we ARE at a fork in the road.”
