Signs of the Times Editor, Eschatologist, Marvin Moore Dies
27 September 2021 |
Marvin Moore, for 26 years editor of the denomination’s flagship evangelistic magazine Signs of the Times, has died. He worked out of the Pacific Press in Nampa, Idaho.
Moore was a prolific writer, and wrote dozens of books, many of them about eschatology.
Says Adventist Today Executive Editor Loren Seibold,
Marvin was a dear friend to me. It was Marvin who believed in my writing skills, and over the course of many years he not only gave me the chance to write hundreds of pieces, but coached and nurtured my latent abilities. He was the most skilled editor I’ve ever worked with: one who you were glad to have correcting your writing.
I talked to him as often as I could. People were sometimes surprised at our friendship, because we had much different emphases in our faith and our writing. But we had in common trusting Jesus and wanting to be like Him. Marvin was consistently to me a godly Christian gentleman—courteous and kind even in our differences. He even consented to write for Adventist Today a few times! I am greatly saddened, and will miss him.
