Our Meetings Are Now Over, and We Are Going Home – Annual Council Wraps
14 October 2022 | Wednesday, October 13, featured the final four hours of the twenty-six hours of meetings for this year’s GC Annual Council. Like all conventions, there was a fair amount of thanking the various worker bees who made the meetings possible: the devotional presenters, the caterers, and so forth. However, some business did get sandwiched in between ADRA International’s Connections coordinator Adam Wamack’s devotional entitled “Finding Jesus” and the group reading of The Great Controversy. Not much has been said about the devotionals, but if one was going to make the time, Kenia Reyes’ “Fruits of a Witness” and Wamack’s “Finding Jesus” were well worth hearing.
The Consent Agenda was the big item to discuss and pass before delegates went home. Items included reappointments to standing committees such as ADCOM, and calendars for Thirteenth Sabbath offerings, special days and events, and authorized meetings. One such special meeting for division officers sounds newsworthy. Entitled “God’s End Time Church – The Future” by Ted Wilson suggests it will be “highly unusual.” The goal of this meeting will be to plan and review “to see where we are in earth’s history.”
Wilson ended the meetings by having seven volunteers read The Great Controversy, Chapter 36, “The Impending Conflict,” to the council. After prayer, everyone left for home. We can only hope these church leaders will always be kind and true.
