Newsweek Adds LLUMC – Murrieta to Best Maternity Care Hospital List
10 August 2020 | Newsweek has named Loma Linda University Medical Center – Murrieta to its 2020 list of Best Maternity Care Hospitals.
Fewer than 250 hospitals made the list, which is part of Newsweek’s Best Health Care series.
The publication created the list to celebrate excellence in care for mothers, newborns and their families. Newsweek bases the list on the healthcare industry’s 2019 Leapfrog Hospital Survey.
“This recognition is an attribution of the talented and dedicated staff who ensure their patients are receiving the best possible care and outcomes every day,” said Charles Yang, MD, chair of the Department of Obstetrics at Loma Linda University Medical Center – Murrieta, quoted in an LLUH news article.
According to LLUH, facilities named as a Best Maternity Care Hospital have fully met The Leapfrog Group’s standards for maternity care for metrics such as lower rates of early elective delivery, NTSV C-section, and episiotomy. Leapfrog also looks at compliance with process procedures such as newborn bilirubin screening prior to discharge and blood clot prevention techniques for mothers delivering via C-section.
