IRA Qualified Charitable Distribution
LOWER YOUR TAXES WITH ADVENTIST TODAY
If you are 70 ½ or older you can make a donation to Adventist Today from your IRA (Individual Retirement Account) that can lower taxes more than by taking a “tax deduction” given from your regular checking account. (You can give any amount up to $100,000/ year from your IRAs.)
Contact the custodian of your IRAs (usually a bank, credit union, trust company) and tell them you wish to make a Qualified Charitable Distribution–QCD from your IRA. Tell them the amount you wish the check to be written for:

- Some IRA custodians will mail your check for you. Others will make the check out to Adventist Today, and then send it to you to mail to Paul.
- To make your gift count for 2021 your mailed check should arrive at our office before December 20 so we can process the gift before the end of the year.
- Share the next two sentences with your IRA custodian: Adventist Today is a Qualified Charitable Organization–Internal Revenue Service type 501(c)(3)—“Religious, Educational, Charitable, Scientific…Organization” to whom contributions are deductible from Federal income taxes. Call us for our EIN number. 800.236.3641.
Example: Taking a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD)
Using the QCD process, ask your IRA custodian to write a donation check for $10,000 directly to Adventist Today. Some donors have found that their Federal Tax is $5,139, a $1,200 reduction in their taxes over paying that amount with a personal check! Again, consult your tax and financial professional for what fits your situation best.
Adventist Today is grateful for all donations, however they are given. And if the QCD process saves you $1,200 in taxes you might even consider passing that amount through to us too!
