AdventHealth Sponsors Pig on the Pond Community Festival
AdventHealth recently sponsored a local community fundraiser with the mission of “providing scholarships to local students.” The sponsorship was seen as controversial by some Adventists who wrote letters to the conference, expressing concern over events held on Sabbath, as well as pig races, live music, carnival rides, and rampant pork consumption. Advent Messenger included many of these objections in their article on October 24, 2022.
The official event page reports that “Pig on the Pond Festival presented by AdventHealth and the City of Clermont has provided more than $400,000 in scholarships to deserving South Lake County students, thanks to a supportive community — through a fun-packed three day event that has made Clermont a regional, festival destination.”
