“The Geoscience Research Institute (GRI) 2024 European Conference on Faith and Science recently convened in the city of London, drawing an enthusiastic and diverse group of over 50 participants comprising students, recent graduates, guest scientists, and researchers from the GRI. News from the South Asia Pacific Region
The first-ever Global Mission Pioneers (GMPs) Convention occurred on August 21-26 in the Southern Asia-Pacific Division (SSD) of the Seventh-day Adventist Church at the Plagoo Holiday Hotel in Bali, Indonesia. The event highlighted the efforts of 130 laymen and pastors who established congregations in rural areas within their regions through understanding local customs and fluency in the language. Utah County Provo Seventh-day Adventist Church (255 South 700 East) will be one of three warming centers established in preparation for the winter months. All three centers will be open from 9 pm to 8 am the next morning, providing resources to the unhoused population such as hotel and rent vouchers, temporary and permanent housing, other emergency shelter options, detoxification services, job training, dental and medical care, and UTA passes for easy travel. “Schools in the North and East zones of Manaus, as well as in cities such as Borba, Autazes, Parintins, and Boa Vista in Roraima, Brazil, learned about the Quebrando o Silêncio (Breaking the Silence) campaign. Lectures and fun programs, such as the “Doll Tea” for girls and the “Car Meeting” for boys, addressed sensitive topics such as child sexual abuse in a fun and educational way.” Full article here
