NAD Announces “Pentecost 2025” to Increase North American Evangelism
29 May 2024 |
The North American Division (NAD) has announced a new initiative called Pentecost 2025, aimed at empowering its members to engage in evangelism on a massive scale. The initiative is meant to draw inspiration from the biblical Pentecost, where the early Christian church saw its numbers swell from 120 to 3,000 in a single day, marking the beginning of Christianity.
Set to kick off in 2025, the initiative encourages all church members, from pastors and teachers to young adults and children, to actively participate in sharing their faith. With an ambitious goal to launch at least 3,000 proclamation initiatives across the division, the program aims to replicate the evangelistic fervor of the early church.
NAD president G. Alexander Bryant emphasized the initiative’s deep-rooted connection to the mission of spreading the gospel. He remarked, “Moving forward with Pentecost 2025 helps us all embrace the mission and proclaim the gospel. This is an opportunity for each member to take the words of Matthew 24:14 to heart.”
To support this massive endeavor, the NAD has committed to providing resources, training, and financial assistance to those with approved projects. Starting July 1, 2024, a page will be launched where members can register their projects and apply for up to $3,000 in startup funds for local evangelism events.
Calvin Watkins, NAD vice president overseeing evangelism, highlighted the inclusivity of the program: “Pentecost 2025 is for all Seventh-day Adventist churches across the North American Division…. We are urging total member involvement.”
Jose Cortes Jr, NAD Ministerial Association associate director for evangelism, shared the division’s commitment to equipping its members for effective outreach. “Whether it’s through innovative outreach strategies, digital platforms, or traditional methods, we must find ways to reach hearts longing for the hope and wholeness found in Jesus,” he stated.
Said Bryant, “We want the Holy Spirit to descend on us as never before. The Pentecost serves as a reminder of the call to engage in mission and evangelism.” A video explanation of the initiative can be found here.
