JustLove Collective Summit to Be Held at La Sierra University May 3-4, 2024
25 April 2024 |
JustLove Collective will host its inaugural Summit on May 3-4 at La Sierra University, featuring workshops on inclusion, community engagement, environmental activism, and anti-racism. It is described as a group of “Adventist activists dedicated to bringing people from all walks of life together for a deep encounter that leads to action.” The Summit will be available both in-person and virtually, and registrations are still being accepted at justlovecollective.org.
The Collective has also launched “Pulse,” a free digital magazine dedicated to social justice and love, embodying Jesus’ command to care for the marginalized. Published monthly, Pulse offers a mix of articles, humor, poetry, reviews, and multimedia content under the tagline “A Collaboration of Adventist Activists.” The magazine emphasizes advocacy and aims to foster a sense of belonging and inspire action through its content.
Dilys Brooks, JustLove organizer, says, “We want to create spaces of belonging. One of our mottos is ‘Uniting hearts, inspiring action.’ Pulse helps us to accomplish both aims, in the here and now.”
April’s issue of Pulse features diverse articles on topics such as social justice, hope, and activism, with contributions from authors such as Kendra Haloviak Valentine and Tara Westover. Editor Chris Blake highlights the magazine’s role in addressing the departure of members from Adventism due to perceived injustices, promoting a message of “defiant optimism and hope.” Check out the first issue of “Pulse” at: https://www.justlovecollective.org/magazine.
