Judy R. Glass Named First Female Treasurer of the North American Division
3 July 2023 |
In a historic decision on June 29, 2023, Judy R. Glass has been appointed the first female treasurer for the North American Division (NAD). Both the standing nominating committee and executive committee of the division backed her nomination, according to an article on the NAD news site.
G. Alexander Bryant, NAD president and chair of both division meetings, expressed his pleasure at Glass’s joining the team. “I am happy to have Judy R. Glass joining our executive team in this historic moment. This is the most diverse executive team in our history. I believe God has uniquely equipped and prepared her to serve the church in North America at this moment.” Bryant also asked for prayers for Glass as she undertakes her new responsibilities.
Glass will replace current NAD treasurer Randy Robinson, who was set to retire on July 31 after 40 years of service to the church. Robinson had been elected to serve as the treasurer for the North American Division in November 2018, and was reelected at the 2022 General Conference Session.
Speaking about Glass, Robinson said, “For most of that time, Judy has served as undertreasurer and has shown herself to be an outstanding administrator. Without any reservation, I support her election to this position. I am confident that God will use her to guide this great division financially and to support the mission He has called us to.”
Glass comes with over 25 years of dedicated service to the church, bringing a rich background of experience to her new position. She has worked as an adjunct teacher at Union College in the Division of Business & Computer Science, worked as an associate administrator/CFO for NAD Retirement Plans, and held business management roles at Spring Valley Academy and College View Academy, among others. In her role as the NAD’s undertreasurer, she managed the division’s budget and oversaw the operations of NAD treasury and its staff. Prior to this, she was the CFO of AdventSource, where she worked for 10 years.
Upon hearing about her election, Glass expressed gratitude for being entrusted with this responsibility. “It is a privilege and honor to be asked to serve as the North American Division treasurer/CFO,” she said, further adding how much she appreciated her mentors and is looking forward to how she can contribute in her new role.
