GC Treasurer Juan R. Prestol-Puesan Announces Retirement
13 April 2021 | On April 12, Adventist News Network (ANN) tweeted the news that Juan R. Prestol-Puesán, the GC treasurer, will be retiring:
‘Juan R. Prestol-Puesán, treasurer of the General Conference, announced his retirement today: “It is with a blend of conviction and sadness that I communicate to you my intention to transition to retirement effective August 1, 2021.”’
The announcement is the second senior GC retirement announcement in less than a month.
On March 31, General Conference Executive Secretary G.T. Ng announced he would retire on June 1, 2021.
Prestol-Puesán has served as GC Treasurer since 2015.
According to his official bio on the GC website, Prestol-Puesán has worked in treasury roles throughout the denomination since graduating from college.
According to the bio:
At the completion of his MBA in 1980, Prestol-Puesán served as Treasurer at the Greater New York Conference, in Manhasset, New York. And in 1987 he began serving as Treasurer of the Atlantic Union Conference in South Lancaster, Massachusetts. In 1993, Prestol-Puesán moved to Moscow, Russia, to serve as Treasurer of the Euro-Asian Division.
Following his term in Russia, Prestol-Puesán relocated to Silver Spring, Maryland, in 1996 where he served as Associate Treasurer and then Treasurer of the North American Division, before he joined the General Conference as Undertreasurer in 2007.
