Former Teacher at Australian Adventist School Charged With Child Sexual Offenses
August 21, 2017: A 64-year-old man who used to teach for an Adventist School in Bunbury, Western Australia, has been charged with sexual offenses against two children.
According to the Bunbury Mail, the man from Bicton, a suburb of Perth, is accused of sexual offenses against two children at homes in the region.
A Royal Commission into institutional responses to child sexual offenses led to charges against the man for the crimes that allegedly took place.
One sexual offense is said to have happened between 1979 and 1983. The man who worked as a teacher at Bunbury Seventh-day Adventist Primary School is charged with abusing a student at his home. The student was aged between five and ten at the time.
The other offense allegedly took place between 1987 and 1988 when the teacher is accused of abusing a second student from the school at his home. The student was 13 years old.
The man has been charged with nine counts of indecent dealing of a child under 14 years as well as six counts of attempted carnal knowledge and three counts of carnal knowledge.
He was due to appear in Bunbury Magistrates court today.
