Editorial: “On a Long, Long Journey”
The longest journey in the Bible—at least judged by the time it took—was from Egypt to Canaan, which by a direct route would be about 250 miles. It took the crowd of Hebrew people 40 years.
Adventist Today is on a journey, too. If you’re reading this, you already know what an important outlet for news and inspiration Adventist Today is. We want to be honest and insightful about our church—to tell you what the church doesn’t.
But we also want to tell another kind of truth: the truth of the good this church has done and is continuing to do in our lives. How it has nurtured and educated and healed us. It has been the only Christian community many of us have known, and we’re hopeful about what it could become.
That’s why AT is having a summer fundraiser, and asking you to pitch in and help us.
Our AT Executive Director, Bjorn Karlman, decided that rather than just asking for money, he would make his own journey. He’s running 230 miles (370 kilometers) from the Big Ben in London to the Eiffel Tower in Paris! He’s keeping us all informed of his trips every day on our AT website and Facebook page
But Bjorn isn’t just running for fun. Before he left, he got me—and for dozens of other people—to sponsor him. I’m in for $5/mile, myself. Our board chairman, Bill Garber, outdid me, so he doubled my pledge! The pledges keep growing day by day. It’s not too late to sponsor Bjorn: you can pledge here! Pledge some amount to help Adventist Today continue to serve our church!
I’m not going to twist your arm. But please, during this week and next, give some money to AT for our summer fundraiser.
Or you can just donate online, or write a check and put it in the mail to:

We’ll be happy either way. And thank you.
