Asia-Pacific International University (AIU) in Muak Lek, Saraburi, Thailand, is ushering in its new academic year with significant milestones. According to a recent news article on their website, the university is excited to welcome its new president, Dr. Jarurat Sriratanaprapat. Having previously worked as Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, Sriratanaprapat is very familiar with the university and its goals. In her President’s Message she writes:
Internationalization is one of the main aspects of the university identity. The university embraces different cultures and perspectives. This diversity helps develop skills and prepare students for the ever-evolving multicultural society. This international focus is a key influential factor in the provision of student learning support, and the promotion of innovation initiatives, and is also connected to the university’s commitment to the development of intellectual, emotional, physical, spiritual, and social skills, as well as the ability to analyze complex world situations and to lead a meaningful life within contemporary society.
The campus is also brimming with energy, having received an impressive 277 first-year students. This surge in admissions is a historic feat for AIU, with this year’s intake being the largest in AIU’s history.
The academic year kicked off on Monday, August 7, as the freshman students took their entrance examinations. Both Thai and international students navigated a demanding day as they tackled the English Proficiency Examination, Math Placement Examination, and underwent an admissions interview.
Located about two hours away from Bangkok, AIU is comprised of students, faculty, and staff from 33 countries. Many are still finding their bearings—locating classrooms and adjusting to life as university students. With this promising start, AIU is looking forward to witnessing these freshmen thrive academically, forge lasting friendships, participate actively in clubs, and immerse themselves fully in university life.
