Andrews University Welcomes Dr. Olive J. Hemmings for Dwain L. Ford Guest Lecture Series

The Andrews University Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry has announced that Dr. Olive J. Hemmings will be the featured speaker for the upcoming session of the 2024 Dwain L Ford Lecture Series. Dr. Hemmings will deliver a Zoom lecture titled Scriptures and Science: Same God, Different Subjects(?), on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at 4:30 PM EST.
Dr. Hemmings, Chair of the Henry and Sharon Fordham Department of Religion at Washington Adventist University, is renowned for her extensive academic contributions and deep engagement with theological studies. With a teaching career spanning over four decades in Seventh-day Adventist higher education, Dr. Hemmings brings a rich perspective on the intersection of faith and ethics in contemporary society. Her lecture promises to explore the intriguing connections between religious scriptures and scientific inquiry, fostering a dialogue that is both intellectually and spiritually enriching.
The lecture will be the final installment of the Spring 2024 seminar program, and is co-sponsored by the Chemistry Honors Society, Andrews University Office of Research & Creative Scholarship, and Andrews University Community Engagement Council. The series is committed to presenting science that is relevant to the community, with the goal of reaching both professionals and the general public alike.

According to the Andrews website, the Dwain L. Ford Lecture Series was introduced in 1971 and “highlights diverse areas where chemistry, biochemistry, and life intersect.
