Adventist School Van Driver Booked for Drunk Driving
June 15, 2017: A van driver for an Adventist school in Bangalore, India was booked for allegedly drunk-driving this morning.
The driver identified as Lakshmipathi (40) was transporting a van of 30 students attending Seventh-day Adventist High School and Pre-University College.
The institution is located in Frazer Town, a suburb of Bangalore.
“The alcohol detector test result showed that he was heavily drunk. The suspect claimed that he had consumed alcohol to forget his domestic problems,” said a police officer.
The Bangalore-based Deccan Herald reported that the van was stopped when the driver allegedly attempted a suspicious maneuver which attracted the attention of traffic police.
The school was notified regarding its driver’s arrest and an alternate vehicle was sent to pick up the stranded students.
Seventh-day Adventist High School and Pre-University College is co-educational and serves students at both primary and secondary (elementary and high school) levels.
