June 15, 2017:    A van driver for an Adventist school in Bangalore, India was booked for allegedly drunk-driving this morning.

The driver identified as Lakshmipathi (40) was transporting a van of 30 students attending Seventh-day Adventist High School and Pre-University College.

The institution is located in Frazer Town, a suburb of Bangalore.

“The alcohol detector test result showed that he was heavily drunk. The suspect claimed that he had consumed alcohol to forget his domestic problems,” said a police officer.

The Bangalore-based Deccan Herald reported that the van was stopped when the driver allegedly attempted a suspicious maneuver which attracted the attention of traffic police.

The school was notified regarding its driver’s arrest and an alternate vehicle was sent to pick up the stranded students.
