ADRA Denies Participation in Rohingya Camp Political Demonstration
13 September 2019 | From APD – The Adventist Development and Relief Agency, ADRA International, published a statement on September 9 denying direct or indirect participation in a political rally in Kutupalong’s Modhurchhara refugee camp in Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh.
Two aid organizations, ADRA and the Muslim AL Markajul Islami Sangstha, were said to have made T-shirts and banners for the demonstration against the return of Rohingya refugees to Burma.
ADRA denied any wrongdoing and stated that it remained committed to working with the authorities to clarify the situation as soon as possible.
The aid organization stated that it adheres to the principle of neutrality. ADRA claims to design partnerships with other organizations in a politically neutral manner and says that it only distributes necessary aid.
ADRA has had a presence in Bangladesh since 1981. ADRA international is the humanitarian arm of the Adventist denomination.
