Why I Support AT
By sustainable energy professional and AT board member Cherri-Ann Farquharson
I first encountered Adventist Today (AT) on Facebook. What stood out immediately was the boldness—the willingness to ask hard questions and explore ideas that many platforms shy away from. As someone deeply rooted in the Adventist tradition and working at the intersection of science, policy, and spirituality, I found in AT a rare space where faith and thoughtfulness are not in conflict.
My first article for AT was a reflection on rethinking the culture of evangelistic crusades—an honest exploration of effectiveness, intent, and context. It was deeply personal, and the response confirmed what I sensed: that there’s a hunger for authentic dialogue and new ways of being Adventist in the world.
Later, I wrote “Stewardship Is More Than Tithe and Offerings” and “Is Faith a Law of the Universe?”—pieces that allowed me to marry my scientific training with my faith. In writing them, I found a community that embraces the full spectrum of Adventist experience—one that sees environmental care, climate justice, and intellectual inquiry as part of our discipleship.
Since then, I’ve also had the privilege of moderating Sabbath Seminars that invite deep, respectful conversation on everything from theology to justice. Adventist Today has become a trusted space for me—a place where questions are welcomed, not feared.
AT matters because it creates room for dialogue, not dogma. It celebrates both conviction and curiosity.
As a new board member, I’m honored to help steward this work. But we can’t do it without you.
