Stabbed Tomb Raider Actor Treated at Hong Kong Adventist Hospital
24 July 2019 | Simon Yam Tat-wah, a Hong Kong actor best known for playing a Shaolin crime lord in the film Lara Croft: Tomb Raider – Cradle of Life, was treated at Hong Kong Adventist Hospital after being stabbed this past Saturday.
The violence took place when a knifeman attacked Yam at a promotional event in mainland China. According to the South China Morning Post, Yam suffered injuries to his abdomen and one of his hands during the attack in Zhongshan, Guangdong province.
After surgery at a local hospital, Yam was brought to Hong Kong Adventist Hospital on Saturday night.
The award-winning actor and producer was discharged today and briefly addressed the press outside the Adventist Hospital, thanking hospital staff for their care.
Yam’s alleged attacker was reported to have a history of schizophrenia.
According to the denomination’s Office of Archives and Statistics, there were 19 churches and an Adventist membership of 4,613 in the Hong Kong-Macau Conference as of June 30, 2018.
