Southern California Conference Reacts to “The Most Destructive Fire in LA History”
10 January 2025 |
On Tuesday, January 7, 2025, Southern California flames rose to create what is now considered “the most destructive fire in LA (Los Angeles) history.
Dubbed the Pacific Palisades Fire, the dry conditions and high winds caused wide-spread devastation, with Newsweek stating that “The fire was estimated to cover more than 11,802 acres with zero containment and has forced at least 30,000 to leave their homes.” The area authorities have called for over 70,000 people to be evacuated to safety, leaving behind homes and businesses while the wildfires continue to rage on.
In response to the natural disaster, the Southern California Conference has jumped into action, releasing a statement on their social media and website sharing their grief at the situation and that they have yet to determine the extent of the losses within their territory, extending their commitment to helping those within the region through donations and volunteer work.
The conference published the following list, stating, “‘If you or anyone you know is in an evacuation zone and in need of shelter or you are experiencing power interruption due to the winds, the following locations have been established for shelter and power at this time:’
