Southern Asia-Pacific Division Hosts Interdenominational Seminar
24 February 2025 |
According to an article by the Southern Asia-Pacific Division,
“More than 80 Christian pastors, including 62 from non-Adventist denominations, participated in the PREACH (Project for Reaching Every Active Clergy Home) Seminar on February 3, 2025. The event, hosted by the Adventist Church in East Kalimantan at Hotel Grand Tiga Mustika, aimed to provide spiritual enrichment and theological insights for pastors across various Christian faith communities.”
The division initiated the event with the intention of creating an open and respectful dialogue amongst other denominations in the region, promoting a broader community. The sessions were predominantly led by Adventist leaders. Theological discussions on the need for personal devotion and Christ-centered humility were balanced by broader topics like historical Christian movements that impacted progressive advancement and what can be learned from them.
The event also aligned with the government’s goal of embracing interdenominational collaboration. Many of the attendees left with stronger faith and deeper relationships with those outside their own denomination, breaking out of the self-imposed segregation. The Ministry of Religion of Balikpapan City, Balikpapan’s Religious Department, and other church leaders praised the merit of the event, finding encouragement and greater unity.
“The PREACH Seminar served as an avenue to break misconceptions about the Seventh-day Adventist Church, encouraging open dialogue and collaboration between Adventist and non-Adventist clergy. By providing a space for shared learning and theological engagement, the event strengthened interdenominational relationships and emphasized the importance of working together in fulfilling the gospel mission.”
