Son of Adventist Headmaster in Zimbabwe Drowns Trying to Save Girlfriend
December 25, 2016: The son of the headmaster of Zimbabwe’s Solusi Adventist High School drowned in the country’s Zambezi River in an alleged attempt to save his girlfriend.
Muzi Tshuma, 22, was enrolled in the Zimbabwe’s National University of Science and Technology (Nust). He was taking part in an Adventist Youth Camp when the tragic incident took place on December 23.
According to Zimbabwe’s Chronicle, the student and some friends disobeyed instructions not to enter the water.
A source told the Chronicle that Tshuma entered the water in order to save his unnamed girlfriend who appeared to be drowning. While the girl survived, Tshuma perished. Tshuma’s body was retrieved by a team of police specialists about 24 hours after the drowning.
The young people had been attending a weeklong camp with more than 3,000 people that had started December 18.
