New COO Named for Adventist Health System
December 14, 2016: On the heels of last week’s announcement that Terry Shaw had been named president and CEO of Adventist Health System, the network announced a new chief operating officer (COO) in Lars Houmann.
Houmann has worked for AHS for 25 years and also has extensive experience working for hospitals outside the system.
The Orlando Business Journal reported that Houmann assumed the role of executive vice president and chief operating officer for the Florida Hospital system in 2001. He served as president and chief executive officer of the Florida division from 2006 to 2015, then became executive vice president of Adventist Health System.
The new job means that Houmann will oversee operations for the 46 hospitals in the system. A key focus will be advancing the patient care model for the system as a whole across all of its facilities.
“I have worked with Lars for 20 years and am excited to have him as the second in command for AHS. With him in this role, the entire organization will benefit from his tremendous experience and expertise running complex and sophisticated health care networks,” said Terry Shaw, president/CEO of Adventist Health System.
