New Amazing Facts Headquarters Opening Delayed as Doug Batchelor Battles COVID-19
26 August 2021 | Doug Batchelor has emailed supporters announcing the Amazing Facts W.O.R.D. (World Outreach, Revival, and Discipleship) Center public opening will not be taking place as planned the weekend of September 4.
The center will serve as the new headquarters for Granite Bay, California-based Amazing Facts International, the television ministry led by Batchelor.
The evangelist publicly acknowledged that he had contracted COVID in a Facebook post this week.
Batchelor said he and his wife Karen were diagnosed with COVID about a week ago.
“We continue following doctor’s orders from home and are praying for a speedy recovery. This is no fun,” wrote Batchelor on Facebook.
In a recent email to supporters, Batchelor said that Amazing Facts International was taking the “precautionary step of postponing the upcoming Grand Opening,” adding “I and others associated with this event have contracted COVID-19.”
Batchelor said that “out of an abundance of caution due to the contagiousness of the Delta variant, we sincerely believe that the most prudent step to protect staff, the community, and, yes, trusted friends like you is to delay the event.”
In a P.S. at the end of his message, Batchelor asked for continued prayers for his “ongoing” recovery, contrasting it with that of his wife and son who he said “are recovering quite nicely.”
