Marcellus T. Robinson Named President of Columbia Union Conference

Marcellus T. Robinson has been elected as the new president of the Columbia Union Conference, according to the Columbia Union Visitor, succeeding his role as president of the Allegheny East Conference. This decision was finalized by the Columbia Union Executive Committee in a special session held on Sunday, March 24. Robinson will immediately take on his new responsibilities, while also continuing his leadership at the Allegheny East Conference for a transitional period.
Robinson has an extensive background in church leadership, having served as an ordained minister for over thirty-eight years. His ministry began in the Lake Region Conference, where he led congregations in Indiana, Illinois, and Michigan for ten years. Since 1993, Robinson has served in various capacities within the Allegheny East Conference, including pastor roles in Maryland and West Virginia, as well as positions such as Ministerial Director and Vice-President for Administration, before becoming president.
In addition to his pastoral duties, Robinson has been involved in numerous church and community boards. He is a member of the executive committees for the North American Division, Columbia Union, Allegheny East, and Lake Region Conferences. He has also served on the Adventist HealthCare White Oak Medical Center Board of Trustees in Silver Springs, MD.
Robinson holds a Doctorate of Ministry from Andrews University Theological Seminary, awarded in 2008. He is married to Maryann Lewis, a registered nurse with a PhD in Organizational Management and a Captain in the United States Public Health Service. The couple, both graduates of Andrews University, have been married for over 43 years and have two daughters, two sons-in-law, three granddaughters, and one grandson.
