Kansas City-based Adventist Church Severely Vandalized
June 12, 2017: Vandals broke into Bethel Seventh-day Adventist Church in Kansas City, Kansas last Saturday night causing approximately $75,000 of damage.
A keyboard was destroyed, pews were upturned and both hymnals and wheelchairs were scattered.
In addition, three toilets had been broken and water was running over the floor when the damaged was discovered on Sunday, June 11.
An emergency clean-up crew was called to the church to help clear the damage. The Kansas City Star reported that it is unclear if the Bethel congregation can continue to meet in the building.
The congregation had met at a different location for a joint service with another congregation on Saturday, June 10.
The church building which was insured, was somewhat isolated due to its location in a rather secluded area with ongoing road work that had diverted traffic.
