Intoxicated Driver Kills One Student, Injures Eight From Ghanaian Adventist School
25 September 2018 | A driver who was reported to be inebriated crashed into students attending Asanta Seventh-day Adventist Junior High School in the Ellembelle District of Ghana’s Western Region. The children were returning home from school on Thursday, September 20, when they were hit.
A Toyota Hilux with registration number GB 1424-12 from Chinese-owned Sinopec Company, allegedly veered off the road and onto the pedestrian walkway, hitting the students who initially tried to escape the vehicle. The driver was reported to be on his way to Asanta, a community located about a minute’s drive from Sinopec.
The injured school children are in various stages of recovery according to Modern Ghana. The body of the killed student was brought to Axim Government Hospital mortuary. The student was 13 years old.
