Hope Channel International has announced a collaboration with Fathom Events to screen the historical drama The Hopeful in theaters across the United States on April 17 & 18. Directed by Kyle Portbury, an Emmy Award winner and nominee of the Australian Directors’ Guild, the film aims to present a historical narrative centered around the early days of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
The Hopeful tells the story of William Miller, a farmer who becomes a preacher and predicts the second coming of Christ, leading to the formation of a new faith community. The movie explores themes of faith, disappointment, and community building during the 19th century.
Portbury describes the film as a personal project that reflects on broader human experiences of expectation and disillusionment, intended to resonate with a wide audience. The inclusion of original music by Jonas Myrin, a Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter, is designed to enhance the emotional depth of the film, with songs such as “Hope Is on the Way” and “Made for You.”
This partnership between Hope Channel International and Fathom Events highlights their shared interest in producing content that encourages reflection and inspiration. The Hopeful is presented as an opportunity for audiences to engage with historical and faith-based narratives.
