Fourth International Bible Conference Under Way in Rome
18 June 2018 | The Biblical Research Institute of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists is currently hosting its fourth International Bible Conference in Rome, Italy.
The June 11-21 conference is packed with over 100 theological presentations relating to eschatology (the branch of theology dealing with death, judgment, and the final destiny of humanity.)
In his program book welcoming message to attendees, BRI Director Elias Brasil de Souza said that “Eschatology belongs to the very ethos of the Seventh-day Adventist Church inasmuch as our church was conceived in the womb of an eschatological hope.”
He added that Adventist eschatology which culminates “in the eradication of evil and the establishment of a new heaven and a new earth—is a profound source of hope in an age of despair.”
The biggest funders of the Bible Conference are the General Conference offices of the Adventist denomination as well as the North American Division.
The meeting is being attended by hundreds of theologians and administrators from around the world.
The event’s program book said that it is hoped that participants “will experience a renewed sense of belonging and be stimulated to make further valuable contributions to the world church through their teaching and ministry.”
