“This is a fact: as much as it is exalted, I am still waiting to see someone produce a single convert, much less millions of converts, who received a TGC in the cold mailings in these millions sent out in the past ten years. Not one. It is a failure as an evangelistic tool.

No one wants it, and I’d be surprised if even the senders are reading it. The printer and the GC president have some kind of agreement that it should be promoted. But in fact, it is a dud, a flop, a bomb, a bust, a lemon, a loser. It inoculates people against our church, rather than bringing them to our church. It is negative PR of the most pernicious kind.“

I have zero beef with EGW. She is no different than most (not all) Adventists and leaders. She used what she had access to. Sadly so many scrolls and fragments have been found after her death that she never was aware of. How different her books would be if she had Google or AI to help her. The books of Thomas, Judas, Mary, Dead Sea Scrolls, etc.

She was a product of her time and so was Graham’s crackers and Kellogg’s corn flakes that addressed the important concerns of her day.

“Ellen White wrote for her time. God raised her up to start our church but her work was finished when she died. I was a SDA pastor for 43 years and early in my ministry I used her a lot. But now I do not use her as an authority. The Bible says very little about the end times. Even the book of Revelation has four different interpretations. I have come to understand that predicting what will happen is a waste of time. God wants us to trust him today and let tomorrow take care of itself. If the last days were that important Jesus would have said much more. But he barely mentioned the last days. Let us live as Jesus lived.”
