Christ-mas is a religious
celebration of sacrifice, a mass.
Whilst Christ’s enwombed birth
elevated and ennobles our species
as nothing else does,
It is His life relinquished to cleanse human sin
That warms with dark red saltiness
The coldest days and darkest nights of our winters.
