Aunty, what’s the term limit for a General Conference president?

Dear Aunt Sevvy,
What is the term limit for the GC president? Could such a rule be established?
Signed, Hopeful
Dear Hopeful,
There is no term limit in policy for a General Conference (GC) president. Though the idea has occasionally been suggested, it has never gotten traction.
A.G. Daniells served the longest, from 1901–1922. It has been rumored that Ted Wilson, who was elected in 2010 and will be 75 years old next year, might seek another term. Even if that’s true, we don’t know whether the nominating committee (which is the body that actually decides on the new top executive) will agree.
Aunty believes that the GC president’s office has become overbearing, and that more frequent change would be helpful. But given that the majority in the committees and sessions that make such decisions are people who work for the administrative team, and the administrative team controls the agenda of the meetings, limitations of any kind on the General Conference president appear unlikely.
