April Fools’ Day Video Causes Stir Among Pacific Union College Students
2 April 2024 |
Pacific Union College unveiled a prank April Fools’ video on April 1, 2024, that has left students and alumni buzzing on social media platforms. Spearheaded by the Vice President for Academic Administration, Lindsay Hayasaka, the video promised “Major Changes to Campus Life,” catching the attention of the college community with its high production quality and believable announcements.
The video kicked off with a bold declaration that all students would be required to wear uniforms, a move that immediately sparked debate. As the announcements continued, the video proclaimed a campus-wide ban on coffee, proposing a “vitality mushroom beverage” as the healthier, energizing alternative.
Finally, Hayasaka began the introduction of candidates for a new VP of Alumni position: “financial guru, Dave Ramsey,” and robot contender, “ChatGPT 4.” The video culminated in a call to “embrace this moment of revitalization, paving the way for a brighter tomorrow,” a fitting end to a series of increasingly outlandish announcements.
The video, with its official university production look, succeeded in initially convincing many of its legitimacy. However, most viewers stated that they began to catch on, especially around the time the Fri-Chick-Fil-A partnership was unveiled…
