Andrews University Raises Nearly $1 Million to Help Students Hit By COVID
26 February 2021 | Since April 2020, 532 donors have given to two Andrews University student aid funds for a total of nearly US$1 million.
According to the Lake Union Herald, the Student Life COVID-19 Emergency Fund and the President’s Student Scholarship Fund have brought immediate crisis assistance and help for long-term financial hardship related to the pandemic.
The gifts from donors have helped 460 students through the two funds.
The Student Life COVID-19 Emergency Fund was created in March 2020 to help students weather financial difficulties brought on by the coronavirus.
The fund helps cover living essentials like rent and groceries for struggling students.
“Originating in 1972, the President’s Student Scholarship Fund assists students who have utilized all other financial aid resources — student loans, government aid, parent contributions, merit scholarships, and employment — and still need a final push to complete registration,” explained the Lake Union Herald.
