Adventist Young Adult Killed in Highway Accident in Georgia
May 8, 2017: Bridget Thompson, a 19-year-old member of the Duluth, Georgia, Seventh-day Adventist Church and a senior at the University of Georgia was killed in a pedestrian accident in Oconee County early Friday (May 5) according to a report from the Associated Press.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution newspaper published a statement by a university spokesman: “The University of Georgia community mourns the tragic death of Bridget Thompson. Our thoughts and prayers are with Bridget’s family and friends.”
Although she was a senior, Thompson was not scheduled to graduate. She had just completed the semester and was headed home when an accident occurred about 4 a.m. on state Route 10 near state Route 316, reported Channel 2 television news in Atlanta.
Thompson had just finished the semester and was preparing to come home, Channel 2 Action News reported.
Pastor Angel Amaro and Pastor Robert Abdul Karim of the Duluth Church have been ministering to the Thompson family and the congregation in the past few days, reports Pastor Neil Reid, an associate ministerial director for the denomination’s Georgia Cumberland Conference.
