Adventist Congregation Hosts Spa Day for Women in Need
19 December 2018 | A Dothan, Alabama-based Adventist church has held a spa day for women in the community. The “God in Shoes Spa Day for Women in Need” program was put on by Dothan First Seventh-day Adventist Church, partnering with other local agencies. It invited local women from domestic abuse and homeless shelters to get a full spa treatment at the church on the morning of Monday, December 3.
WTVY.com reported that those participating were given manicures, hair styling and cuts, as well as free MaryKay skincare products, facials, and their pick of clothes that had been collected by the congregation.
“What we try to do is promote the character of Christ, and Christ went among the people and he helped the poor and those that were in need. ‘God in Shoes’ is an example of this project where we’re helping women who are in need,” said Rosalind James, Temperance Leader at Dothan.
James hopes to make “God in Shoes” an annual event.
