Will COVID-19 slim down our big fat church?

Dear Editor,
I believe that the answer to Loren Seibold’s question “Can COVID-19 Slim Down Our Big Fat Church?” (Adventist Today magazine, Summer 2020) is yes! Loren has done an excellent job in this article of describing the difficulties we have faced for many years with a top-heavy administrative church structure. However, there is one dynamic and only one that will force change: lack of funding! Societal trends to more local giving have been slowly affecting change; but I believe we are about to witness a major shortfall in giving for anything beyond the local church. The “fat” will be removed on the new diet that is just ahead!
