Vejlefjord High School Closing at the End of the Year
1 April 2025 |
Vejlefjord High School will close on June 30, 2025, at the end of this school year. On March 5, the school board made this decision after carefully considering recent financial and structural challenges.
One of the main factors in this decision was low enrollment. Smaller class sizes indicated a need for significant changes to ensure the school’s overall survival. In a statement released on the Trans-European Division’s official news site, tedNEWS, it was noted that other departments within the school will remain operational. The nursery, kindergarten, primary, and continuation schools will be restructured to adapt to these changes.
Founded in 1930 by the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Vejlefjordskolen operates as an independent institution, with the high school being added in 1972. The statement from tedNEWS emphasized that low enrollment is forcing some changes.
“Even though it is a very painful decision, we have to realise that it is impossible to run a small high school of this size anymore. Now, we will work purposefully to further develop our school offer, including the creation of new positions at the boarding school, where there is a need for more teachers. Here, we see good opportunities to create new and exciting offers in a strengthened after-school department,” says Principal Kasper Busk.
