Evangelist Says Prayer and Petition Redirected the Winds at WAU Tent Revival

An evangelist reported that God worked in mysterious ways this April, when the Washington Adventist University (WAU) Pentecost 2025 Tent Meeting was unaffected by severe weather conditions.
The multi-day spiritual revival was to be hosted in a 200-person tent. However, high winds threatened to disrupt the event. Chaplain Jiwan Moon checked the tent on Tuesday, April 15, around 3 p.m., to discover the poles were damaged, ropes had snapped, and the tent company had advised them to avoid the risk of the tent’s collapse during the event.
Despite the risk, faculty and student leaders, including Dr. Ralph Johnson—vice president for the Center for Student Life—and Professor Bogdan Scur, decided not to cancel. They decided to bathe it in prayer. At 6:15 pm, seven people gathered to ask that, if the event were within his will, God stop the wind.
The prayer worked, reported the evangelism team. The simple prayer had a profound impact, with the winds ceasing completely by 6:45 p.m. In a secure tent and mild weather, the revival went forward. It seemed the entire experience was bathed in blessing. Three students committed their lives to Christ. Asante Mzuthi Khamula, a student-athlete from the United Kingdom, recounted how his aspirations as a professional soccer player were interrupted by an injury, yet he shared how the disruption was a redirection to God.
In the Columbia Union Visitor article on the event, Chaplain Jiwan Moon affirmed that
“As a result of WAU’s Pentecost 2025 Tent Meeting, many students accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and committed to following Him faithfully. We are experiencing revival — a direct result of the Holy Spirit blowing through us, just like the wind — with grace, power, love, and inspiration.”
