Maranatha and AdventHealth Offer Clinics in the Dominican Republic
15 April 2025
Maranatha and AdventHealth, both known for their philanthropic efforts, partnered in late February to provide healthcare services in remote regions of the Dominican Republic. Based in Santo Domingo, the clinical team delivered care to over 1,000 patients during their trip.
While the region is vibrant, it lacks accessible healthcare in surrounding areas. AdventHealth offered preliminary services such as general checkups, providing diagnoses and treatment whenever possible. Meanwhile, Maranatha sent nonclinical volunteers to paint and repair classrooms in Ciudad del Cielo.
The efforts of these volunteers, many of whom are from the Dominican Republic, represent a continued investment in the school project. Ciudad del Cielo, located in northern Santo Domingo, is being constructed by the organization in collaboration with volunteers and on-site aides.
The project was a success, fostering active partnerships within the community and between Maranatha and AdventHealth.
“My prayer is that each of our volunteers experienced love, joy, and peace during this trip and shared it with others,” remarked Monty Jacobs, director of global missions at AdventHealth and a board member of Maranatha, in an interview with Adventist Review. “I hope they were able to reflect on what truly matters in life during this trip and returned to the United States energized and recommitted to living our mission with purpose.”
