On March 18, a diverse group of female representatives gathered in Russia to discuss the role of Christian women in society. The Public Chamber of the Russian Federation hosted an interfaith conference focused on the topic of women and their impact in the private and public domain. Participants addressed modern challenges, the dual expectations faced by women, and the importance of preserving their identity as women of faith.
Vladimir Yuryevich Zorin, chairman of the RF Public Chamber Commission on Interethnic, Interreligious Relations, and Migration, served as the main moderator of the event. He highlighted the creative complexity of women and their impact in both domestic and public roles. These roles present significant opportunities for women eager to live out their Christian faith, regardless of their denomination.
The conference featured Adventist representation from Svetlana Aleksandrovna Velgoshafor, head of the Pastor’s Wife Association of the Euro-Asian Division, and Aksenia Vasilievna Liberanskaya, head of the Women’s Ministry Department in the Euro-Asian Division. Liberanskaya presented a report titled “The Creative Role of Women in the Family.”
Other participants included representatives from the State Duma of the Russian Federation, Commissioners for Children’s Rights, members of the Public Chamber, and representatives from the public organization “Union of Orthodox Women,” local Protestant churches, and various public figures, all of whom contributed relevant reports and presentations.
The conference aimed to emphasize the importance of preserving the role of women in both the home and the public sphere by focusing on scriptural truths. Numerous public organizations dedicated to women and faith organized the event, fostering interfaith discussions among women from diverse backgrounds.
