“I totally abandoned denominationalism about two years ago. During almost 30 years of my wife attending a large Adventist university church with a pastoral staff of 5 or 6, plus a staff of elders (I attended with her for about the last one third of those years), not one person from the pastoral staff, and not one elder, ever stopped by the house to say hello. Not even so much as a phone call to ask ‘How are you?’ This in spite of the fact that one of the pastoral positions has a title which strongly implies that its occupant’s primary responsibility is making certain that such contacts and visits occur. I have no idea what that person actually does. But I know what they don’t do.“

I hope that Andrews and our other colleges and universities are making sure that there is no illegal trespassing on church and school property by ICE agents and no detaining of immigrants without the use of proper court-issued warrants—and making sure that students and staff know their rights and have appropriate legal representation.”
