2,958 runners, of whom 739 were children, participated in a charity run to support victims of domestic violence. ADRA Romania in collaboration with AMiCUS Romania Student Federation hosted the fourth edition of the charity cross-country race entitled “I’m Running for My Mother.” The charity run occurred simultaneously in 12 cities: Arad, Brașov, Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Craiova, Iași, Oradea, Pitești, Sibiu, Suceava, Târgu Mureș, and Timișoara.
According to ADRA Romania, the funds will be used for supporting women and children who have escaped from domestic violence, “helping them reintegrate into society through the ‘ADRA House’ project.” The project, “Emergency Reception Center for Victims of Domestic Violence – ADRA House,” provides services such as shelter, social vouchers, hygiene and cleaning products, psychological and social counseling, emergency medical assistance, supplies, transportation reimbursement, and clothing.
Media partners and countless sponsors turned up for the event. The project has been ongoing for 16 years and has aided “over 3,817 victims of domestic violence, mothers and children, of whom 1,147 were hosted at “ADRA House.”
